Wat is victimologie?
 Drie soorten victimologisch onderzoek:
o Gericht op slachtoffers van criminaliteit (specifieke definitie)
o Gericht op alle slachtoffers (algemene of brede definitie)
o Gericht op slachtoffers van internationale conflicten (internationale misdrijven en
massageweld)

Victimologie: De focus op hulpverlening

Wat valt op?
 Theorieën vanuit Criminologisch perspectief
 Maar, er zijn ook veel andere theorieën vanuit andere disciplines:
o (Sociale) Psychologie – Hoe gaan we als samenleving om met slachtofferschap en hoe
reageren we op slachtoffers. Wat zijn de gevolgen van slachtofferschap?
o Juridisch perspectief – Wat is de behoefte van het slachtoffer en slachtofferrechten.
o Internationaal massageweld perspectief – Hoe gaan we om met slachtoffers van
internationale conflicten (onderdeel van de kritische victimologie).
o Communicatie en politiek perspectief – hoe worden slachtoffers gebruik/geframed in
de politiek en media.

Just World Hypothesis (JWH)
 Good things happen to good people, bad things to bad people; You get what you deserve
 Verantwoordelijk houden van mensen voor hun ellende, in plaats van de ellende te wijten
aan omstandigheden of hun lot.
 Tragedie/ goeds: mensen hebben het aan zichzelf te danken door hun eigen handelen, en
daarom verdienen ze dit.
 Geloof dat de wereld rechtvaardig is → bij onrecht beredeneren we dat iedereen krijgt waar
hij recht op heeft.
o Uitleg voor victim blaming: Personen verdienen de tragedie → Schuld leg je niet bij
de echte (f)actoren.
