3.2 ENERGY CIRCUITS
KINETIC
● Hand crank = cogs, increasing energy by adding wheels, kinetic energy into electricity.
The one in the picture works by turning the handle quickly via kinetic energy into
electrical energy.
● Lamp = where light is seen. The light will appear when enough kinetic energy has been
created by spinning the hand crank to convert it into electricity.
● Motor = changes kinetic energy into electrical energy so that the lamp lights up.
● Crocodile clips and wire = this connects the circuit together making it complete.
● Useful energy is light energy.
● Wasted energy is heat and sound energy.

POWER SUPPLY
● Power bank provides DC (direct current) at 12 volts. It sends electrical energy to a motor
which turns into kinetic energy as it turns.
● This also turns the dynamo which generates kinetic energy into electrical energy.
● This then turns the fan via a motor in the fan.
● For this to happen, the circuit must be complete. This involves crocodile clips and wires.
