⚹ Animal farm ⚹
✦ Chapter One:
Chapter one starts with Mr. Jones, of the manor farm, closing the farm,
drunk and then going to sleep during that the animals of the farm are
meeting because the old major, a pig, had an important announcement to
make.
When every animal arrived the old major starts his speech, he talked about
how he knew his time was coming, so he feels the need to communicate
something to them, animals have been enslaved to work for humans with
nothing in exchange more than the bare minimum, man is the biggest
enemy and problem to the animals, everything they do is evil, so they have
to rebel, animals have to start a revolution he doesn’t knows when but it
will come, he dreamed about it.
Chapter 1 finishes with the animals singing a song of the major childhood
that was also in his dream and when Mr. Jones heard something started
shooting.
✦ Chapter Two:
Three days after chapter 1, the Old Major died in his sleep his the ideas of
the revolution keep on going to form an idealism called “Animalism”
(communism) and the opposition whose Moses, He was loyal to Mr. Jones
and tied convincing the animals that the revolution wasn't worthy
because if they continue this way they won’t go to Sugarcandy Mountain
(heaven) but after that M0ses left with Mr. Jones.
The animals had regular meetings that were led by the pigs: Napoleon
(quiet and manipulative), Snowball (Idealistic and eloquent), and Squealer
(talkative and liar), they were the voices of the revolution, who have been
learning how to write and reed for the past time, then we have the horses:
Boxer and Cloven whom represent the working class and also there's
Mollie a dumb but pretty horse who represents the bourgeoisie.
One day Mr Jones was really drunk, he forgets to feed the animals so the
animals revel, scaring away Mr. Jones and becoming finally free. The
animals went into Mr. Jones house, and they were surprised how different
he lived in difference to the animals, they decide to keep his house as a
museum. After that they burn everything that reminds them of Mr. Jones.
The animals write the 7 commandments of Animalism
1. Whatever goes upon 2 legs is the enemy
2. Whatever goes upon 4 legs or wings is a friend
3. Animals can't wear cloth
4. Animals can't sleep in beds
, 5. Animals can't drink alcohol
6. Animals can't kill other animals
7. All animals are equal
After that they change the name of the farm from Manor farm to Animal
farm, from now on they control their own destiny, and they start taking
care of each other even faster that Mr. Jones did.
✦ Chapter three
As the time went by the animals took perfect care of themselves and the
farm though it was hard sometimes because most of the tools were made
for human use, the pigs solved every problem, but they didn't work, they
just gave the instructions and supervise.
With the pigs smarts solutions and Boxer’s hard work, everything worked
even better than it did with Mr. Jones, they had the biggest harvest, and
the farm looked its best also the animals liked their food better because
they made it themselves.
On weekends, they didn't work, instead they had animalism meetings that
always finished with them singing “beast of England” (When they sing that
song the humans thought they were ridiculous), a song that had become
the anthem of the revolution, during these meetings they planned the
week scheduled and come up with solutions to the problems that have
been presented.
The pigs made a flag for animalism, it had a hoof and a horn.
The pigs also installed an “education system” witch was the only of
Snowball’s ideas that actually succeed, the others were clean tails
language and egg production committee. The classes' idea was that every
animal could learn how to read and write, but most of the animals didn't go
further than the A, B and C, Mollie only learned the letters that form her
name, also most of them couldn't remember the 7 commandments, so they
made a short phrase to summery the principles of animalism: “Four legs
good, two legs bad” witch made the birds a little offended because they
had two legs.
Meanwhile, Napoleon wasent really convinced about the education they
are implementing, he thought it made more sense teaching the new
animals other that the older ones, so he hides a baby dogs and teach
them himself.
This chapter finishes with Squealer explaining why did the pigs took more
milk and apples if all animals are equal, he explains that the pigs had to eat
more to be healthy to help the rest of the animals.
