, W.I.N.G. – Warmth, Inclusion, Nurturing, Growth
Before I begin, I want you to imagine one thing: a student standing
at the bottom of a staircase, wanting to learn… but unable to climb.
W.I.N.G. exists so that no child ever faces that barrier again.
Imagine a school where every student can move freely, learn without
barriers, play without limits, and feel truly included—a school where
diversity is celebrated, differences are respected, and no one is left
behind. This is the vision behind our beloved institution, AFUL
Ferreñafe, and the reason we created the W.I.N.G. project: Warmth,
Inclusion, Nurturing, Growth.
Good morning, teacher and classmates!
At AFUL Ferreñafe, we know that traditional school structures—
stairs, narrow hallways, loud bells, inaccessible bathrooms—can
unintentionally create obstacles for students with disabilities,
whether physical, sensory, intellectual, or developmental. These
barriers can lead to exclusion, stress, or anxiety, preventing students
from participating fully in classes, activities, and playtime.
Inclusion is not a favor. It is a right. And W.I.N.G. turns that right
into reality.
W.I.N.G. is our solution. It is more than ramps or signs; it is a
commitment to equality, empathy, and community, transforming our
school into a place where every student can thrive, every need is
acknowledged, and every voice is heard. From accessible entrances,
inclusive classrooms, playgrounds, and companions trained in sign
language, W.I.N.G. ensures that AFUL Ferreñafe is a model of
inclusion, care, and respect. W.I.N.G. is a project with a set of
solutions and alternatives designed to address the challenges that
students with disabilities face in our school. My classmate and I will
explain, and join me as we explore each element of this project,
discovering how every ramp, every quiet corner, every visual sign,
and every adapted activity works together to create a school where
all students can truly soar.
