The female nude has always been a popular genre in western art. This essay was written from a feminist perspective by analysing Pierre-Auguste Renoir's depiction of women. The essay referred to terms such as the gaze, nude vs. naked, misogyny, and aesthetics.

This essay discussed two Italian Renaissance artworks and the influence in the stylistic and philosophical qualities of the art. The analysis of this essay referred to the social, political and cultural context of the art and the artworks. This essay examined the influence of Greek and Roman ideas and style in the two selected artworks.
