Between 2010 and 2025, the World maintained the highest real GDP per person,
increasing from approximately US$9,322 to US$12,131. South Africa remained
second, but its figure fell from about US$5,954 to US$5,713. India started with the
lowest figure, around US$1,235, and rose steadily to US$2,523. India therefore
made the largest proportional improvement, whereas South Africa made no lasting
improvement across the full period. All three series declined in 2020, followed by a
much stronger recovery in India and the World than in South Africa (World Bank,
2026).
