1. Answer THREE (3) of the following six questions.
2. Each question is worth 33,33 MARKS.
3. Each essay must be about 1 000 words in length (approximately four (4) pages).
4. After completing the examination paper, submit your answers as a single PDF
document. Go to https://cems.myexams.unisa.ac.za, then return to the link where you
downloaded your examination paper. Log in using your student number and myUnisa
password. On the next screen, find ECS2608 and click on the link to “Submit answer
file”. This link will display only if the examination session is still open for file
submissions – no late submissions will be accepted. Lecturers have also been
instructed not to accept any e-mailed submissions.
5. You are required to tick the honesty declaration before uploading this paper. The
completion of this paper must be your own work.
6. Please ensure that your PDF document is NOT encrypted to a “secured” mode,
password-protected or a read-only file, as these files cannot be marked. Virus-
infected files will also not be marked.

8. You are advised to preview your submission (answer script) to ensure its legibility
and that the correct answer script file has been uploaded.
9. You are permitted to resubmit your answer script should your initial
submission be unsatisfactory.

(including the Invigilator cell phone application) will not be marked and no opportunity

16. Students who have not utilised invigilation or proctoring tools will be deemed to have
transgressed Unisa’s examination rules and will have their marks withheld.
17. You have 48 hours from the day of your examination to upload your invigilator results
from the Invigilator app. Failure to do so will be regarded as a failure to have used
invigilation or proctoring tools.
18. You must complete the online declaration when submitting your work. Students
suspected of dishonest conduct during the examinations will be subjected to
disciplinary processes. You may not communicate with other students or request
assistance from other students during examinations. Plagiarism is a violation of
academic integrity. Students who plagiarise or copy verbatim from published works
will be in violation of the Policy on Academic Integrity and the Student Disciplinary
Code and may be subjected to a disciplinary hearing. Unisa has zero tolerance for
plagiarism and/or any other forms of academic dishonesty.
19. You have 30 minutes to submit your answer script after the official examination time
has elapsed. If you experience technical challenges, you should report it to the
Student Communication Service Centre (SCSC) on 080 000 1870 or your college
examination support centre within 30 minutes. (Alternatively, send an email to
or refer to “Get help during the examinations” by
contacting the SCSC (unisa.ac.za) for a list of additional contact numbers.)

20. Queries received later than one hour after the official examination time has elapsed
will be disregarded. Submissions made after the official examination time will be
rejected in terms of the examination regulations and will not be marked.
21. Non-adherence to the processes for uploading examination responses will render you
ineligible for any special concessions or future assessments.
22. Queries that are beyond Unisa’s control include the following:
i. personal network or service provider issues
ii. load shedding/limited space on your personal computer.
iii. a crashed computer
iv. using work on computers that block access to the myExams site (work
firewall challenges)
v. unlicensed software (e.g. if your licence expires during the examination period)

Ensure you are connected to the internet in order to log into the YOUR EXAM QR CODE & EXAM ACCESS
Invigilator App and scan this QR code. CODE
If you encounter difficulty in scanning the QR code, you can
alternatively enter the Exam Access Code below the QR code to start
the invigilation.
If you finish your assessment before the app timer has run out you need
to press the ‘Finish Assessment’ button and follow instructions before
you exit or minimise the app.
Scan the QR code at the start time of the assessment, unless otherwise
specified by your institution, note that you can only scan this QR code

The QR code is only scannable for a limited time and it should
therefore be scanned as soon as possible after the assessment
commencement time.
Keep the Invigilator App open on your smartphone for the full duration
of the assessment. You are not allowed to minimise or leave the app
during your assessment.
You must adhere to the assessment time limit communicated to you by your institution. The timer displayed in the
Invigilator may vary depending on the start time of invigilation.
FURTHER GUIDANCE
If you only have one device you may access your assessment in the application by pressing the ‘Access Browser’ button
in the top right corner of your app.
Once the QR code is scanned, ensure your media volume is turned up and place your smartphone next to you.
The Invigilator App will notify you with a notification beep when you are required to action a photo request, which
you should then perform as soon as possible.
We recommend that you keep your smartphone on charge for the duration of the assessment.
Ensure you are connected to the internet when commencing invigilation. You also need to be connected to the internet at
the end of the assessment in order to upload the app data.
If your assessment has multiple online sections, tests or attempts, you should NOT finish the invigilation until your entire
assessment has been completed.
