According to Carl (2009:38-39) curriculum development consists of 4
phases:
A) Curriculum design C) Curriculum Implementation
B) Curriculum dissemination D) Curriculum evaluation
Curriculum development Carl (2012) is regarded as an umbrella concept
and continuing process in which structure and systematic planning
methods figure strongly from design to evaluation.
Curriculum design is a concept within curriculum development that
relates both to the creation of a new curriculum and to the re-planning of
an existing one, after a more complete evaluation has been made.
Aspects such as method, team approach and responsible decision
making should figure prominently within this phase. Curriculum design is
also the planning phase during which various decisions are taken which
must be based on accountable criteria.
The nature and the extent of a curriculum design will differ depending on
the level on which one moves. There are differing views as to what the
various levels are such as the Macro level, Meso level and the Micro
level
The Micro –level has to do with identification of aims within a specific
subject module or a lesson unit or a lesson. Aims help to give direction
on the didactic design off instructional learning situations fair learners
and during its implementation
In practice. In this assignment, I will be referring to my curriculum
design lesson: “Past Tense” in English language at Micro -level.
