 TASK 1: SELF-MANAGEMENT AND SELF-DEVELOPMENT

1. Description of My Experience
This year, I enrolled in a module focused on [Insert Module Name], which delved into the
complexities of [Briefly describe the subject]. At the beginning of the module, I was both excited
and apprehensive. The content was engaging, but it also presented a series of challenges. The module
required a significant amount of self-study and critical analysis, which tested my ability to stay
disciplined in my approach. One of the key moments that stood out was when we had to complete a
group project, a task that was both rewarding and demanding. The project’s scope required
collaboration and time management, and I initially struggled to balance this with my other academic
commitments. This experience highlighted both my strengths and areas that needed improvement,
particularly in managing time under pressure.

2. My Feelings During These Experiences
During the first few weeks of the module, I felt a mixture of excitement and anxiety. The subject
matter intrigued me, but there were moments when I felt overwhelmed by the volume of work.
During group discussions and assignments, I felt somewhat anxious, unsure whether I could
contribute meaningfully to the team. However, when we received positive feedback on our first
assignment, I felt a sense of pride and motivation. This success encouraged me to manage my time
better, even though I faced stress as deadlines approached. When stress mounted, I found myself
procrastinating, which made the pressure feel even more intense. Overall, the emotional highs of
accomplishment helped me push through the more challenging periods, but the emotional lows
highlighted my need for better time and stress management strategies.

3. Evaluation of My Performance
Reflecting on my performance, I can see where I succeeded and where I struggled.

Time Management:
At first, I found it difficult to allocate enough time for self-study, often leaving tasks to the last
minute. While I had good intentions, my time management was poor. As deadlines neared, I would
rush through assignments, which affected the quality of my work. However, as the semester
progressed, I started using planners and digital tools like Google Calendar to break down tasks into
manageable chunks, which improved my productivity. I was able to submit my final assignments on
time and with more confidence.

Stress Management:
Stress was a recurring challenge. During particularly busy weeks, I found myself overwhelmed,
leading to burnout. I struggled to balance multiple tasks and often didn’t take enough breaks.
However, towards the end of the module, I began practicing mindfulness techniques, such as deep
breathing and short breaks between study sessions, which helped me manage my stress more
effectively. While this was an improvement, I still need to refine this aspect of my self-management
further.

Goal-Setting:
Initially, my goal-setting lacked structure. I set broad goals like “improve my grades” but lacked
specific, measurable targets. Over time, I implemented SMART goals to give my efforts direction.
For example, one goal was to achieve at least an 80% grade on the upcoming assignment, which I
broke down into smaller actions like researching, drafting, and reviewing. This approach was
effective, as it kept me focused and helped me track progress.
