Methods for Enforcement of Environmental Laws (10
Marks)
The existence of environmental laws necessitates mechanisms for enforcement by executive
institutions (public administration bodies) to ensure compliance. The enforcement function can
be performed using a variety of methods:

1. Administrative Enforcement

This involves actions taken by the executive agency itself without involving the courts. It is often
quicker and less costly than judicial action.

 Method: Issuing compliance notices or directives that specify the action required to
remedy a violation (e.g., stopping illegal pollution).
