AT MORETELE SERVICE POINT
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This proposal outlines a community work programme aimed at empowering
unemployed women through psychosocial support at Moretele Service Point under
the Department of Social Development. The programme responds to ongoing
challenges faced by women in the community, including poverty, unemployment,
emotional distress and limited access to resources. These challenges affect both
individual well-being and family functioning.
The project will use a structured group-based approach to provide support, skills
development and access to information. It will focus on strengthening self-
confidence, improving coping skills and promoting independence. Participants will
take part in weekly sessions where they will share experiences, learn practical skills
and receive guidance on accessing services such as social grants and employment
opportunities. The programme will also create a safe environment where women feel
respected and supported.
The intervention is aligned with the mandate of the Department of Social
Development to reduce poverty and promote social justice. It integrates both
individual and community-level support by addressing personal challenges while also
improving access to community resources. Collaboration with local stakeholders and
service providers will strengthen the impact of the project.
The expected outcome is improved emotional well-being, increased self-reliance and
better access to opportunities for participating women. This programme will
contribute to long-term community development by empowering women to improve
