In iterative development, the primary objective of each iteration is to deliver a
functional, tested, and usable increment of the overall system. Rather than
attempting to complete the system in a single, linear process, iterative models
emphasise gradual refinement through repeated development cycles. Each iteration
involves a full range of development activities—planning, analysis, design, coding,
and testing—enabling the software to evolve incrementally while incorporating
continuous stakeholder feedback.
This cycle ensures that each increment provides tangible value to users and project
stakeholders, serving both as a milestone and a foundation for subsequent
enhancements. By validating outcomes at the end of every iteration, developers are
