1.1 Discuss the FOUR (4) stages of the SIAS process and explain the role of the
teacher at each stage of implementation. (4x4 = 16)

early identification, proper planning, and implementation of interventions that are
inclusive and relevant to learners’ individual needs. The role of the teacher is central to
all these stages.

Stage 1: Screening of Learners
This is the preliminary stage in which the class teacher observes the learner
consistently and identifies any signs that the learner may need additional support. It
involves collecting baseline information about the learner’s development, academic
performance, behaviour, and emotional well-being.

Role of the teacher: At this stage, the teacher monitors the learner's progress closely
and records any signs of learning difficulties or developmental delays. Teachers
conduct informal assessments and use tools such as observation checklists and
portfolios to track the learner's performance. Teachers must identify whether the learner
is struggling due to temporary setbacks or persistent barriers to learning.

Stage 2: Identification and Support Planning
