2.1 How would you apply the theory of positive psychology in the Life Skills
classroom? (4 marks)
To apply positive psychology in the Life Skills classroom, I would start by helping
learners recognise their own strengths. This could be done through a weekly
classroom activity where learners reflect on things they did well or situations where
they handled challenges in a positive way. As a teacher, I would also encourage
peer recognition where learners write notes or give feedback to one another,
acknowledging acts of kindness, helpfulness, or determination. This builds a culture
of support and appreciation. The aim is to cultivate a mindset focused on growth,
resilience, and capability. I would also incorporate storytelling and personal reflection
activities that highlight themes of perseverance, gratitude, and hope. These activities
help learners understand that setbacks are temporary and can be overcome using
their inner strengths.
