Schools play an important role in both organising education and shaping the social lives
of learners. As an organisation, a school has a clear structure, leadership, rules, and
goals that help it function effectively. It operates like a smaller version of society, where
people have specific roles and responsibilities. As a socialising agent, the school
teaches learners how to behave, interact, and understand the values, beliefs, and
customs of their community. Learners are not only taught academic knowledge but are
also guided in building their social and emotional skills. Through both formal lessons
and everyday school experiences, students learn how to live and work with others. This
helps prepare them for their future roles in society—at work, in their families, and as
citizens.
