1.1 Impact of Inclusive Education in the Classroom and Benefits for All
Learners
Inclusive education, grounded in the principles of basic human rights, ensures
that all learners, regardless of their abilities, backgrounds, or socio-economic
statuses, are given equitable access to education. This approach fosters a
learning environment where diversity is not only accepted but celebrated. In
my classroom, the impact of inclusive education is observed in the way
learners with varying needs actively engage with the curriculum, showing that
when given the right support, all learners can thrive.
One major impact of inclusive education is the promotion of social cohesion.
Learners from different cultural and ability backgrounds learn to work together,
respect each other, and support one another. This leads to improved
interpersonal relationships and reduced incidents of bullying and
discrimination (Engelbrecht & Green, 2017). Additionally, inclusive classrooms
support the development of empathy and tolerance, as learners are taught to
understand and appreciate individual differences.
