QUESTION 1: READ THE EXTRACT
Mr Metsi, the principal of Mabotse Secondary School, has launched a programme
to enhance curriculum delivery. The programme aims to improve learner
engagement and learning outcomes.
Mr Moeng, the physical science teacher, noticed that his learners struggled to
engage during practical experiments. He welcomed the initiative hoping that
integrating new teaching strategies could make physical science more accessible
and comprehendible. This was supported by Mrs Lebepe, the English teacher who
cited that learners struggle to analyse literature, affecting their comprehension and
performance.
After attending the professional development workshop, all teachers at the school
were encouraged to implement the teaching methods that are fit for their respective
subjects to improve curriculum delivery.
Mr Moeng and Mrs Lebepe decided on the following methods:
 Problem Solving.
 Flipped classroom.
 Simulation.

Answer the following questions based on the extract and use your textbook as
a guideline:

1.1 How Each Strategy Can Help Mr Moeng and Mrs Lebepe

Both Mr Moeng, the Physical Science teacher, and Mrs Lebepe, the English teacher,
want to improve how their students engage with lessons and boost their understanding.
Here's how the strategies they chose could help with these goals:

 Problem Solving

For Mr Moeng (Physical Science): Problem-solving encourages learners
to dive into experiments by figuring out solutions for themselves. Instead of
just following instructions, they get to think critically and apply what they’ve
learned in a more hands-on way. This approach can make science less
intimidating and more exciting.

For Mrs Lebepe (English): In English, problem-solving lets learners
actively engage with the text. For example, they might work together to
figure out why a character acted in a certain way or how a particular theme
is developed in the story. This kind of engagement can really boost their
comprehension and critical thinking skills.
