Answer 1

a. DIY Solutions decided to use an enterprise resources planning (ERP) system.
a. The aim of this system is to act as a single data source where people are
able to share data across functions and where data can be integrated and
centralized.
b. In South Africa, DIY Solutions can use one type of HRIS, namely Oracle.
c. The level of organisational processing that the system supports is organisational
level.

, Question 2
a. Describe what a RFP is.
b. Provide four items that DIY Solutions should include in the document about
their company
c. Discuss three criteria that DIY Solutions should have used when they selected
the HRIS vendor

Answer 2

a. Request for proposal (RFP) refers to a document that solicits potential consultants
or vendors to submit proposals and bids for proposed work. The purpose of RFP is
for organisations to get proposals from vendors for solutions that will meet the
particular need of the organisation (it can be for particular goods or services or for
an HRIS, for example).
b. Normally the following will be included in the response to the RFP:
a. An introduction of the organisation and its mission. Included in this section
will be information about the products and services that the organisation
offers and also perhaps their track record.
b. The proposed timelines and the terms should be included and these should
link directly to how the vendor can meet the needs and requirements of the
organisation (as per the RFP). The vendor should specify this clearly.
c. The authorised signature and contact details will also be included, as well
as procedures to follow if the particular proposal is accepted.
d. The vendor should include pricing information. Vendors will normally do
research on similar products in the same industry before they do their final
pricing, as they need to be competitive with their pricing structures. A clear
indication should be provided of the costs and how this is structured.
