By the end of the course, the student will be better able to…

Course Rationale: (700 – 1000 words)

Here you need to include:

 why you have chosen this syllabus type
 why you have chosen the topic(s) covered
 why you have chosen this target language/skill
 the rationale behind the structure of the course, e.g. why is it in this order?
 how the course will meet the learner’s needs

I have chosen a Multi-Syllabus for this student due to the fact that he needs to learn multiple skills
to improve his English. This type of syllabus is created on a combination of topics, structures,
vocabulary items and skills practice, making it possible for the teacher to use different types of
appropriate material available from the internet or creating itself. This allows the teacher to
present each lesson in a way so that the information is interesting and captivating for the student
which will in turn keep him motivated and focused. This type of syllabus will enable the teacher to
see how the student is progressing and where he is still struggling and it also allows student input
to ensure his learning needs and aims are met.

After analysing the questionnaire which Alberto has completed, I chose topics which are aligned
with his interests, background and goals/needs. The questionnaire gave me a solid understanding
of what he would like to improve throughout his lessons and his reasons for wanting to improve
his English skills. Incorporating subjects that he can relate to will keep him motivated throughout
the lessons and promote his learning to ensure he gets the desirable result and it will also help
him to see the relevance of learning English to enrich his everyday tasks, interactions and
experiences. Syllabus topics include music, industrial engineering (new words), current affairs (a
rise in new Covid cases caused by new strains), job interview skills as well as travelling and the
environment. Using this personalised approach to select lesson contents and topics helps to
