, MWM HEALTH PROGRAM
Problem summary
The UN outlines mental health as a crucial component of well-being and has highlighted its
importance in various resolutions and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Specifically, Goal 3 of the SDGs aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all
at all ages, with Target 3.4 focusing on reducing premature mortality from non-
communicable diseases, including mental health conditions, through prevention and
treatment.
The Mental Well-being Manager program aims to provide a comprehensive, user-friendly
platform for individuals to monitor and enhance their mental health. South Africa's access
to mental health care and resources is limited, creating a pressing need for accessible and
personalised solutions. This program targets individuals seeking to improve their mental
well-being, such as managing stress, anxiety, or depression.
The program enables users to create a personalised account, track their mood, set
personal goals, and monitor their progress. Advanced analytics and scoring systems offer
valuable insights into users' mental states, while curated resources from online databases
are suggested based on individual assessments. As a result, the Mental Well-being
Manager streamlines the mental health management process, providing the path for users
to overcome challenges and achieve better mental health outcomes.
The targeted users are in the age group 15-24, this group is particularly vulnerable to
mental health issues. In South Africa, access to mental health care and resources is
limited, creating a pressing need for accessible and personalised solutions.
