myths or legends about river spirits. Encourage them to share any stories or information
they might know.
- Introduce the text: Show students the title of the passage, "Inkanyamba –The Umngeni
River Spirit", and ask them to make predictions about what the story might be about based
on the title alone. Record their predictions on the board.
- Vocabulary preview: Identify and explain any unfamiliar words in the passage, such as
