The following are some of the books that I think will be a great source of information
for my Assignment 5
1. Study Guide for SOC2602 – Globalisation and Social Change in South
Africa
This study guide forms the basic foundation for information on decoloniality. It
gives a simple explanation to understand different terminology and concepts. It
is also an easy recourse to reference from or rather to give you direction on
how to understand concepts and terminology.
2. Decoloniality as the Future of Africa - Sabelo Ndlovu-Gatsheni.
Ndlovu-Gatsheni is one of the authors that is recommended in all topics
regarding decoloniality. Many a times he is recommended in modules such as
International Political Theory (IPC3701), Socialisation and Globalisation in
South Africa (SOC2602) and Globalisation (HSY3701). Ndlovu-Gatsheni
mostly talks about how the colonisation of Africa has had a harmful effect on
the continent and its people. His writings, especially in this book focus more on
Africa, something that can be relatable and easy to discuss.
3. How Globalism and Tribalism are reshaping the World - Benjamin
Barber. This book critiques globalisation in the sense that it falls more on the
neoliberal side. The book describes how neoliberalism is the force behind
globalisation. One of the main sub topics discussed here is culture.
4. Study Guide for HSY3707- Globalisation
The study guide gives more of an in depth explanation to that of the SOC2602
Study Guide. This study guide also gives guidance as to how to approach this
exit level module and the topics discussed in it.
