• It is based on Units 1 - 6: Chapters 1 – 2 and 4 – 9 of your Psychology in the Work Context
textbook.
• Take note of the mark allocation per question and use this as a guide when answering.

• Unless otherwise stated, you must use your own words when answering questions.

• Describe your personal metatheoretical principles that should shape your thinking about I-O
Psychology as a science and practice.

Unit 2 - Chapter 4:
• Indicate how critical periods influence human development during childhood and across the
lifespan.
• Indicate the general characteristics of human development.
• Demonstrate an understanding of how genetic and environmental factors influence human
development.

Unit 3 - Chapter 5:
• Demonstrate an understanding of the learning concept.
• Explain, compare, and apply the principles of classical and instrumental conditioning.
• Describe the effectiveness of punishment.


Unit 4 - Chapter 6:
• Indicate examples in life and work where stimulus attributes are used to get the perceiver’s
attention.
• Comment on impression formation with special references to short cuts people use.

Unit 5 - Chapter 7:
• Discuss heuristics and cognitive control in decision-making.


Unit 5 - Chapter 8
• Distinguish between intrinsic and extrinsic sources of motivation.
• Predict the effectiveness of various workplace based motivational strategies.

• Recognise the role of important work-related attitudes.
• Explain the importance of culture in general in general and organisational values.
