needs analysis may be conducted at three levels, namely organisational analysis,
operations analysis and individual analysis. oot all training and development situations
require assessment at each level. The training plan that is require to meet the
organisational goals and objectives is coaching. As in athletics, the organisational
coach assumes the role of helper and teacher. The coach - ofen the line manager -
achieves developmental objectives by setng goals, providing assistance in reaching
goals and giving timely and constructive performance feedback. The coach answers
questions, lets the employee participate in making decisions, stimulates the
employee's thinking and helps when problems occur. Properly done, coaching can be
an extremely one-to-one basis. efective way to develop employee confdence and
strong supervisor-subordinate relations.
