Renaissance
The Renaissance is a period of the 15th and 16th centuries in European history that marks the
transition from the Middle Ages to the present day and is characterized by a quest to revive and
surpass ancient ideas and achievements. It occurred after the crisis of the late Middle Ages and was
associated with major social changes. Beyond the usual periodization, proponents of the "long
renaissance" can put it to begin in the 14th century and end in the 17th century.
The Renaissance began in the Republic of Florence, one of the many states of Italy. Various theories
have been proposed to explain the origin and characteristics of Florence, focusing on various factors,
including the social and civic characteristics of Florence at the time: its political structure, its
dominance. Family, sponsored by the Medici family.
20th century
The 20th century began on January 1, 1901, and ended on December 31, 2000. The 20th century was
characterized by the major events that define the present age, such as the Spanish influenza
pandemic, World War I and World War II, nuclear weapons, nuclear power, and space. Exploration,
nationalism and colonization, technological advances, and Cold War and post-Cold War conflicts.
These have reshaped the political and social structure of the Earth.
In the 20th century, there were major changes in the relationship between humankind and the
natural world. The world's population, rising sea levels, and environmental degradation have
increased, and competition for land and resource depletion has accelerated deforestation, water
scarcity, and the mass extinction and population decline of many of the world's species. Artificial
global warming has increased the risk of extreme weather.
