Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is one of the most commonly misdiagnosed and misunderstood disorders at this time. Clinical diagnosis of BPD in adolescents is difficult, mostly due to high rates of comorbidity with other personality disorders, such as; Major Depressive Disorder or Bipolar Disorder. This paper discusses the various challenges that clinicians face when identifying and diagnosing BPD. It also highlights some perspectives of family members and friends who are in relationships with an individual with BPD.
