THE COURSE PLAN

Name of the Teacher Name of the Student Level of the
student
Larissa Horn Alberto Moto Minguet Intermediate

Syllabus Type:
Topic based syllabus.

, Course Aims:
By the end of the course, the student will be better able to have improved his ability in
listening skills, speaking skills and have better pronunciation.

Course Rationale: (700 – 1000 words)
I have structured it according to the sequence I will be teaching. What I start with will be in
the beginning (the introduction) Introducing learners to the new them and what the lesson
will end with (the cooler). The structure is important as it will prevent you from jumping
around when you give a lesson. It guides you in the direction you want to go, sometimes you
may add or take things away from the lesson plan what the lesson is being taught which is
okay and needs to be seen as planning with the means to guide.

I chose the topic-based syllabus because the students requested specific topics to learn in
during the course. These topics he chose was, science, technology, the environment, and
current affairs. He also mentioned that he loves to travel, hang out with his friends, and watch
movies. Another thing the student prefers is authentic materials and activities to a
coursebook. Materials we can use is materials like newspapers, social media, videos and
audio material.)
Alberto is an electrical engineer and is a technical and analytical inclined individual. When
choosing the main skill topics for our lessons I took his interests to heart worked with it to
create fun, funny and interesting topics for him to work in while we improve his English.
The topics are as follow:
• The environment (mutated fish)
• Science and technology (Epidemiology and Coronavirus.)
• Technology and science (The future of cars)
• Current affairs (The Catalonian independence)
• Traveling (Going on holidays in Spain)

The student requested a few this he would like to improve on, and I will focus on it when we
have our lessons. The skills are pronunciation, listening and speaking skills than needs to be
improved. Testing in important for the student to measure his improvement. We will test his
improvement in every lesson and do continues testing which means (testing throughout every
lesson) Formal testing will be done in lesson 5 as the syllabus takes us up to 5 hours or
English lessons.

Hour 1 is to see where our student is with his listening and speaking skills. The student will
start to feel comfortable and familiar himself with the material we use (The environment).
Hour 2 focuses mainly on listening skills and Hour 3 focuses mainly on speaking skills. Each
of these two lessons exclusively focuses on one topic to strengthen the students’ skills one
by one. It is important to give individual attention to each skill we want to improve.
Hour 4 will jet again address both skills (listening and speaking) This time it will be at a
more advances stage that the first hour was to expand and improve their skills.
Hour 5 is designed to test the student’s overall improvement and to see where he I snow after
5 hours of lessons. Even though this topic is the easiest and the most familiar to our students
to is the best topic we can find to test our students.

In conclusion, considering many aspects when planning this lesson namely approaches
stages, how the student will be able to effectively adapt to the tests and reach the goal set for
