Since we started farming and growing crops, we
have settled in groups.
Some small settlements grow into large towns or
even cities.
Many people today are moving from rural areas
to urban areas.
We will be looking at different kinds of
settlements and how land is used in a
settlement.
We work with aerial photographs and maps to
gather information about land use.
We look at why cities are growing and at issues
such as housing and the provision of resources.

They may settle due to fertile soil and the availability of a water
supply.
Farming
They may settle due to a valuable minerals being found in the area.
