1.1 The impact of social media on constitutional right to privacy
Social media should be used as a tool for communication purposes, linking up with
friends and family and even looking for jobs. However social media has been infringing
the right to privacy and people’s lives are no longer private. People look for jobs using
social media, so they put their private personal details out there because of
desperation. This lives room for hackers and criminals to use that information for
themselves in a bad way. Section 14 of the Constitution states that everyone has the
right to privacy, which includes the right not to have their home searched, their property
searched, their possessions seized, or the privacy of their communications infringed.
