Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine if doing volunteer work improves one's
happiness and the effects it has on someone’s mental health. The study's primary
objective will be to find a link between variables including volunteerism, mental
health, and happiness.
This study will use a questionnaire that includes a Demographic sheet, a Mental
Health Questionnaire (Bargar, 1996), and the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire
(Argyle and Hill, 2002).
For this study, a Quantitative design will be used to determine the cause-and-effect
relationship between the variables. A Snowball sampling will be chosen, with
volunteers and non-volunteers being the two categories in the Cape winelands
region.
Understanding volunteer motivations will enable organizations to survive by allowing
them to benefit on volunteers' ongoing experience and participation, resulting in
higher-quality social service delivery. If volunteers are happy, the more they
volunteer.
This study, on the other hand, will provide us a better understanding of the problem
and broaden the field of future research.
