A warm welcome to you all and I would like to thank you for registering General Management (MNG2601)! My
name is Ms. Elsabe Scholtz, and I’ll be your lecturer for MNG2601. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19
outbreak, the possibility of face-to-face meetings remain improbable, but my team and I will be available to assist
via email ().
Please read through the relevant study materials (especially tutorial letter 101) and familiarise yourself with the
processes and procedures at Unisa and with this module. You’ll find a handy list of contact details (in tutorial
letter 101) that you can cut out and keep on your desk/fridge. Additional tabs are created on the module site, to
make your navigation on this site to important information (regarding assignments and the online exam) more
convenient!
Below a few matters of concern to you.
Discussion forums
The online discussion forums for MNG2601 are available under your individual e-tutor page. Please post your
discussions under the relevant page. You will receive a notification once you’ve been allocated to an e-tutor
group, and then you will be able to:
o form study groups,
o exchange numbers, email addresses, etc.
o ask questions to your e-tutor and fellow students,
o discuss difficult questions that you need clarity on
o hear how everyone is experiencing the module
o ….and so much more!
Please bear with us, hold on to your questions, and start posting on the discussion forum once you’ve been
allocated to your e-tutor group!
IMPORTANT: Please do not contact your lecturers regarding e-tutor allocations. These allocations are
done by the University, not academic personnel. Lecturers will not be able to assist.
Unisa provides you with a safe and secure environment to engage online with fellow MNG2601 students (on
myUnisa). On myunisa, your posts, comments, and uploaded material, and posted contact details (such as e-
mail addresses and telephone numbers to other students) are safe and not accessible to the public (unlike other
online platforms). We highly encourage you to participate in the discussion forums on myunisa, and highly
discourage the use of any other online platform.
Communication with the university and fellow students
Write your words out when communicating with lecturers over email. The same applies when communicating
with fellow students and e-tutors over the e-tutor site and discussion forums. “SMS-jargon” (such as Plz; myb;
ass2 and “da”) is incorrect spelling and not professional. State your student number, module code, and e-
tutor site (such as MNG2601-20-S2-E5) in your emails to the lecturer.

Assignments
You will be required to complete three online assignments (via the Online Assessment tool). Also, read through
the lesson "Assignment 1 - 3" before attempting the assignments.
Examination
The examination will take place over two sessions of 35 marks each. The examination will be written on the 8th
and 9th of October. Should the examination dates change for any reason, this will be communicated via an
announcement and the "Online Examination" lesson. The examination will be written on the myExam site, and
NOT the myUnisa site. Please read through the "Online Examination" lesson for more information.
Self-assessments
There will be two online self-assessments and one mock examination made available during the semester. View
