3.1) The Milky Way is a large, barred spiral galaxy. A large group of stars, gas and
dust bound together by gravity. Our sun and all the planets around it are part of a
galaxy know as know Milky Way Galaxy. It is called Milky Way because it is seen as
a Milky band of light in the sky when seen against a dark area. Large spiral system
consisting of several hundred billion stars, one of which is the sun. It takes its name
from Milky Way, the irregular luminous band of stars and gas clouds that stretches
across the sky as seen from earth.
3.2) Equinox, this happen when the ecliptic (the sun’s apparent motion across the
celestial sphere) and celestial equator intersect. When the sun moves up from below
the celestial equator to above it, the point of intersection between the sun and
celestial equator is when spring (Vernal) Equinox occurs. All parts of the Earth
experience 12 hours of the day and 12 hours of night, equinox means “equal night”,
and this happens around 12 March.
At the summer Solstice, which occurs at around 21 June in the Northern
Hemisphere, the North Pole is pointing towards the sun at an angle of 23.5°. Winter
Solstice occurs around 21 December in the Northern Hemisphere, the North Pole is
pointing away from the sun at an angle 23.5° and the longest day occurs around 21
(summer solstice).
At the winter the Solstice (December in the Northern Hemisphere), the North Pole
inclined directly away from the sum. Three months later, the earth will reach the
March equinox and that the sun’s declined will be 0°. Three months later after that,
the earth will reach the date of the summer Solstice. At this point it will be at
declination -23.5°. This cycle repeats itself, creating the seasons that we experience
on earth.
