For Assignment 2 you created a page about a particular community. For this
assignment we want you to consider how problems and possible solutions in that
community depend on how one thinks about the community.
1. Identify a problem in the community
Think of some problem or issue in the community. Briefly explain what the
problem is (one or two sentences).
The main problem in the cosplay community is the continuous judgment on physical
appearance when someone does not meet the societal beauty standards, arguing
that people can only cosplay characters they look like, which is crazy since
characters are fictional and have unrealistic features, to begin with, so one cannot
alter physical appearance. Cosplay is supposed to be fun for everyone, everyone
should be able to cosplay a character that they feel a connection with, it is supposed
to be a community where everyone shares the same love for the same thing and be
connected, which is not always the case and people forget that not everyone has
access to the same resources, money, and time to pull off a perfect canon on point
cosplay. They do make other cosplayers feel excluded.
2. Suggest a possible solution
Describe a possible solution to the problem that would probably satisfy the
most powerful or important people in the community (one paragraph).
The best solution implemented to improve the community is to bring more
awareness to the movement COSPLAY IS FOR EVERYONE! Cosplay is for
everyone who was created to uplift, empower, and bring positivity for cosplayers that
get harassed, hated, discriminated against, and continuously judged for not looking
