SECTION A

1. Surveillance as with regards to the past was spearheaded by formal
institutions and some corporations with an aim of conditioning people to follow
a desired pattern. Prior to this, authorities depended on orthodoxic
methodologies to spy on people. Later, some Europeans countries engaged
in spying networks. In twentieth century, there was a radicle change which
saw states developing sophisticated security systems that targeted people‘s
attitudes and behaviour. Typically, these mechanisms resulted in exposure of
lawbreakers and some terrorists at an unprecedented level. For example,
video footage may be used as a means traceability of unlawful acts.
2. Social medium such as facebook has demonopolized the way authorities
behave to a certain extent. For example, officials are channelled to behave in
a way that is ethically transparent, as failure to do so may result in
compromising their reputation. This in turn fosters accountability from top to
down unlike previously when it was a one-way route. Following that, the
velocity at which these online media plays is so dynamic that news can travel
at a volatile speed. This in turn globalise information and brings people on
their toes before the act.
3. By all standards of reasonable doubts, online social networks have proved to
enforce social norms. Ideally, this is cemented by the fact that people from
different geographical areas can socialise without physical contact. For
example, a person in UK may share ideas with someone in Cambodia by the
fingertip. Following that, social groups can telecommute there by decreasing
potential costs that may have been incurred through travelling. Last but not
least, how paved ways for on line marketing thereby minimising costs that
may have been incurred if it was otherwise.
