Oct/Nov 2026 exam special: exam-style questions with full worked answers to prepare for your MNG3701 Oct/Nov 2026 exam. Strategic Planning is all about application, and this original MNG3701 exam pack trains exactly that. It contains 42 four-option multiple-choice questions with an explained memorandum. It also has 8 case-study-based long questions (160 marks) with full model answers that show how to apply each strategic tool to a South African organisation. You will practise strategic direction (vision, mission and objectives, with a weak mission critiqued and rewritten), stakeholder mapping (power–interest matrix), PESTEL analysis, Porter's five forces (applied to the ride-hailing industry), the industry life cycle and strategic groups, resources, capabilities and VRIO, value chain analysis, SWOT and TOWS strategies, and business-level strategies: Porter's generic strategies, best-cost, Bowman's strategy clock and blue ocean (ERRC grid). The Business Model Canvas and balanced scorecard are covered too. Each model answer is structured by the tool's headings and ends with a justified conclusion, which is the approach markers reward. A concise topic-notes appendix and exam tips complete the pack. All questions are original practice questions modelled on the exam format. They are not past papers. Independent study aid, not affiliated with or endorsed by Unisa.

1. How to use this pack
What this pack is: a bank of ORIGINAL exam-style questions written to mirror the style, mark
allocations and topic spread of MNG3701 assessments, with full worked answers. Every
question was written from scratch; none is taken from Unisa exam papers.
Typical MNG3701 format (check your current tutorial letter / myUnisa): MNG3701 is
presented online. Assessments typically combine four-option multiple-choice questions with
case-study-based long questions in which you must apply strategic tools (vision/mission
evaluation, PESTEL, Porter’s five forces, resource-based analysis, SWOT and business-level
strategy) to a southern African organisation. Confirm the current format on myUnisa.
How to use it: (1) Do Section A under timed conditions. (2) Mark yourself with the
memorandum. (3) Attempt each Section B case question before reading the model answer:
application to the case is where most marks are earned. (4) Revise from the appendix.
Prescribed textbook referred to for topic coverage: Venter, P. & Botha, T. (eds) Practising
Strategy: A Southern African Context (Juta), 3rd edition. Use the edition your tutorial letter
prescribes.
