● It’s - crucial part - modern day business - cope with fast growth of tech changes + stay
ahead - competitive society.
PROBLEM SOLVING
● Problems = challenged not yet conquered.
○ Can be anticipated - predictable problems = rapid growth of business &
unexpected problems = natural disasters.
● Risk management + planning - cope with problems.
Problem solving techniques:
1. Pros & cons chart:
● Simplest technique - problem - many possible solutions.
● Look @ arguments for + against each option.
○ Option - most pros / least cons.
● Often done instinctively without formally writing out options.
● To solve problem - weigh up options - detailed info + important = prioritise issues
then decide.
● Analyse chart more intelligently - use weighting techniques.
● Suggestions - weighting the chart:
○ Allocate ranking of importance - which section ranks the highest.
○ Score each aspect on a scale of 1-5 - AKA force field analysis.
2. SWOT analysis:
● Identify strengths, weaknesses, opps + threats.
● Once issues - identified - PS - focus on real issues.
● Widely used - identify SWOT components in a team / entrepreneurial business.
3. PESTLE analysis:
● Identifies challenges - macro environ - no control.
● Political, Economical, Social, Technological, Legal + Environmental factors.
○ + Physical + Ethical factors.
