The Nervous System
, The Nervous System
Overview
The nervous system is a network of neurons or
nerve cells which originate in the brain and
spinal chord and then branch out to the muscles,
organs, bones and skin in our body.
The cells of the NS receive sensory input from
the outside world (like pain, pressure, vibration,
smell) and converts it into an electrical impulse
which the body can recognize.
The NS also sends motor commands to our
muscles and commands to our organs telling
them what to do.
