, HREDU82 ASSIGNMENT 4 (CURRICULUM)
DUE DATE: 13 OCTOBER 2026
Teachers’ Experiences of Curriculum Implementation in Contemporary School
Classrooms
1. Framing the Research Inquiry
Curriculum provides an important foundation for organising teaching and learning within
schools. It establishes expectations regarding content, learning outcomes, assessment and
the knowledge and skills that learners should develop. However, the implementation of
curriculum requirements takes place within real classrooms where teachers work with
different learner abilities, available resources, time limitations and institutional expectations.
The way teachers understand and apply curriculum requirements can therefore influence
classroom teaching and learning.
This study will explore teachers’ experiences of implementing the curriculum in
contemporary school classrooms. A qualitative methodology will be used because the study
seeks to understand teachers’ perspectives, experiences and interpretations rather than
measure curriculum implementation numerically. Qualitative research is particularly
appropriate when researchers seek detailed accounts of experiences within their natural
contexts (Creswell & Poth, 2018).
The study will generate data through semi-structured interviews with purposively selected
teachers. The interviews will focus on curriculum planning, classroom implementation,
assessment, teaching resources, learner diversity and challenges experienced by teachers.
The collected information will be analysed through thematic analysis (Braun & Clarke,
2021).
The methodology will also address participant selection, research trustworthiness and
ethical protection. These elements will ensure that the research process is systematic,
