The verb 'is' in the present tense does not change in the past tense if it is describing a continuous action.

'Herkou' and 'Herberg' get a 'ge-' in the past tense.

 Dan, As, Wanneer, Nou (DAWN):
These words change to 'toe' in the sentence in past tense:
Wanneer, dan, as, nou become 'toe'. The rest of the sentence changes to past tense as per the other
rules.
Eg: Wanneer Megan hokkie speel, slaan sy die bal baie hard.
 Toe Megan hokkie gespeel het, het sy die bal baie hard geslaan.



 'Hoef … te' and 'behoort … te' as the verb:
Behoort … te ge-ww1 het
Hoef nie … te ge-ww1 het nie - 'hoef … te' is always in the past tense
Eg: Jy behoort jou huiswerk te doen.
 Jy behoort jou huiswerk te gedoen het.
The infinitive part of the sentence does not change in the past tense. Ww2 always goes before the
infinitive.

When changing the verb to 'hoef nie… te…nie' or to 'behoort… te':
Eg: Benjamin moet balke saag om van sy nuk ontslae te raak.
Benjamin behoort balke te saag om van sy nuk ontslae te raak.
Replace the verb with 'behoort/hoef nie…nie' and add a 'te' before every other verb.
