learning
Select the generalization: Help learners discover the amazing information they
can gather.
Set up a problem situation: Basically give your students a problem to solve on
their own and what they have learned and discovered in the process by
themselves.
Set up experiences that will bring out the essential elements, such as problem
solving, questions and demonstrations: Assign work that is related to a topic,
and encourage students to investigate, ask questions, and form their own
demonstrations.
Set up experiences that will bring out contrasting elements: better enables a
student to deal with misconceptions and construct new knowledge based on
this new experience. If you don’t let them explore, they don’t get it.
Draw a generalization: Discovery learning does not focus on finding the right
end result, but the new things we discover in the process.
Apply the generalization or concept: If you don’t explain the concept and the
formula then all their exploring may or may not lead to comprehension.
