Investigating or searching for information or a purpose
The practical science activities is a starting point to help learners develop particle Big
Ideas
Learners are faced with challenges of explaining how drops of water form from
nowhere.
They do not see drops in the air which can be an easy explanation that the drops are
too small and they cannot be seen.
Invention

Learners come across new ideas and new terms.
Looking at PSA 3, it can be extended by investigating a steel wool that is rusting.
A candle will be used, it will be burnt in a large container.
The candle is to be placed upright, the candle will go out, after that, and the
containers should be compared after few days.
Then learners are to report what they observed and they should explain it in practical
terms
Application
(Section 3.3.1 pg. 21)
Consolidating new ideas by investigating each application.
Learners should be encouraged to try out various combinations of substances that
they will find at home.
Looking at the PSA two liquids were used which are solid sugar and liquid water,
mixing a liquid and solid should be tried to see the results.
