Identify, discuss and provide examples from the case study of the psychosocial
factors in the work environment which are influencing factors that may be the
cause of the relationship problems between employees and leadership
experienced in Company ABC.
Psychosocial factors in the work environment refer to the social and interpersonal
conditions that affect employees’ psychological adjustment and work performance
(Bergh, 2011; Rothman & Cooper, 2015). In Company ABC, several psychosocial
factors contribute to strained relationships between employees and leadership. These
can be identified from the case study and discussed with reference to established
theory.
Role ambiguity and unclear expectations. Employees reported that their leaders'
individual roles were ambiguous and unclear. When employees do not know what is
expected of them or what authority their supervisors have, frustration and conflict often
arise (Bergh, 2011). This confusion leads to mistrust and communication breakdowns,
as employees feel that management is not providing clear direction.
