1.1 Types of Drugs

coordination. Long-term use may lead to dependency and decreased

depression.

Cocaine is another widely known drug and is classified as a powerful
stimulant. It is derived from the coca plant and typically appears as a
white powder or as solid crystals known as crack cocaine. The drug is
usually snorted, smoked, or injected. Cocaine increases levels of
dopamine in the brain, resulting in intense feelings of pleasure and
increased energy. However, these effects are short-lived, leading users to
repeatedly take the drug to maintain the high. Cocaine is highly
addictive and can result in severe physical and psychological health
problems, including heart complications and emotional instability.

Heroin is a highly addictive opioid drug made from morphine, which is
extracted from the opium poppy plant. It is typically injected, smoked,
or snorted. Heroin produces a strong sense of euphoria and relaxation by
depressing the central nervous system. It slows down breathing and heart
