Real or extended decision making: Real or extended
decision making entails a high level of involvement from the
individual to search for internal and external information to
make an informed purchasing decision. Extended decision
making involves the complex evaluation of information and
alternatives. In other words, this type of decision making
has to do with a response to a high level of buying
involvement – the customer is buying a product of high
value, and they put a lot of effort into choosing the right
product. We generally see extended decision making when
purchasing expensive products, such as a house, car,
computer or gadgets.
