Question 1

I have composed a song for my grade 7 class which will learn them about the
precautions to take to avoid getting infected by Covid-19.

The song has a nice upbeat tempo to help create awareness of the virus without
causing panic amongst learners. The learners have to be informed about the
coronavirus and how to protect themselves. Teaching learners the correct protective
measures to follow will ensure that they feel more at ease. It is a serious issue which
needs to be addressed in the right spirit. Allow learners to ask questions about the
virus and learn them accordingly. Make them feel safe through setting and example
and providing emotional support when necessary. Most importantly as the teacher, I
will have to stay calm and positive to help my learners through this difficult period.

As mentioned, my song reflects the measures that has to be taken in order to
prevent the spread of Covid-19. The song starts off with a strong message. Learners
are not scared of Covid-19 and they stay calm. I then teach them simple steps to
follow to stay clean and avoid getting infected. The song teaches them to wash their
hands and not to touch their faces. It also teaches them how to sneeze appropriately
and to apply social distancing. Through this song I am trying to establish the correct
hygiene methods learners should follow. The song is upbeat and has a jolliness to it.
This will ensure that learners enjoy the song and they will definitely remember it.

The Song: Let’s keep clean

Covid-19, you don’t scare us
We stay calm and don’t make a fuss.
Let’s follow these steps and don’t get infected,
Wash your hands and don’t neglect it.
Don’t touch your face, don’t touch your nose, don’t touch your eyes, lets sanitize.
Lift your elbow, cover that sneeze to curb the spread of this disease.
Let’s keep out distance and ensure our existence and wear your mask to complete
the task.
