Assignment 1 2026
Unique number:
Due Date: 22 May 2026
QUESTION 1
1.1.
Planning
As the social work manager at Child Welfare Limpopo, I will start by turning the concern
about statutory rape into a clear prevention project. Planning is the first management
function because it decides what must be achieved and how the work will be done
(BSW4804 Study Guide 2020). The study guide states that planning helps managers set
goals, prepare strategies and arrange work schedules so that the organisation can meet its
mandate (BSW4804 Study Guide 2020).
My first step will be to set one main goal. The goal will be to increase awareness among
men and boys in Limpopo about statutory rape, consent, child protection and legal
consequences. I will set targets for March to August 2026, such as the number of
workshops, community meetings, school visits, online videos and webinars to be completed
in each district. I will also ask each district office to identify high risk areas, such as taverns,
schools, churches, malls and higher education institutions. This will help the project respond

This will help the project respond to real community conditions instead of using one
general message for all places (BSW4804 Study Guide 2020).
I will also prepare a project calendar. Each district will have monthly activities,
responsible staff members, partner organisations and reporting dates. Planning must
include stakeholder buy in, because a plan works better when those involved
understand the purpose and agree on the direction (BSW4804 Study Guide 2020).
For that reason, I will involve Sonke Gender Justice, #NotInMyName, Love Life,
Men’s Clinic International, the Limpopo Liquor Board and churches before
implementation starts.
Organising
Organising will help me put the plan into a working structure. Organising involves
arranging work, allocating human and physical resources and creating a structure
through which organisational goals can be reached (BSW4804 Study Guide 2020). I
will use the existing Child Welfare Limpopo structure, where the head office supports
five district offices. Each supervisor will lead the campaign in one district. The three
social workers in each office will facilitate workshops, school sessions, webinars and
