Occupation : Scholar
Stage of development : Identity vs role confusion
Description : The teenager must achieve a sense of identity in
occupation, sex roles, politics and religion.
Psychological development stage
According to Erickson’s (1984:18) eight stages of psychological development
Ronald in on the fifth stage, Ronald faces the task of the identity vs role
confusion this is also known as the adolescence stage (ages 12–18). According to
Erikson, an adolescent’s main task is developing a sense of self whereby the
teenager can now answer and reason in a conversation, But with the case of
Ronald he is not opening up with his doctor as he only gives in short responses
this may be caused by fear, Ms Bester was denying Ronald the opportunity to
