First Ac vity
a) A dic onary ac vity, for vocabulary and dic onary skills development AFTER the class have
read or listened to your selected text.
This could be used later in the same lesson or in another lesson. You can use the vocabulary items
you have selected for pre-teaching or make a di erent selec on. The vocabulary must be from
the text or clearly relevant to the text.

these words and their meaning, form and pronuncia on.
- Explain to students that they are required to nd the de ni ons
and/or synonyms of the 12 selected words that have been extracted
from the reading text.
- Make sure each student has a copy of the Dic onary Race worksheet
Teacher’s Instruc ons
- Allow students 30 seconds to ask any ques ons
- Allocate 10 minutes for students to complete this ac vity
- Allocate 5 minutes for peer to peer marking
- Assist students where needed
