, Problem 1:
a) Define effective exhaust velocity, characteristic velocity, ideal thrust
coefficient and the equation relating them?
Effective exhaust velocity is the equivalent jet velocity calculated as thrust
divided by the propellant mass flow rate. It accounts for both the momentum
thrust from the exhaust gases and the pressure thrust.
Characteristic Velocity is a measure of the combustion performance of the
propellant and chamber.
Ideal Thrust Coefficient relates thrust to chamber pressure and throat area.
Non-dimensional thrust used for comparison.
b) Explain the use of impulse function and show that:
Impulse function is used to simplify the thrust equation calculations.
