, As a Pre-Registration Nursing student, I recognize the importance of
integrity in academic work. This essay aims to reflect on the significance
of integrity and develop action plans for better performance. I will review
my activities and my academics using a reflective model and produce the
best outcomes from my experience to give better results each time. This
helps me to maintain academic integrity.
Reflection is a method of reviewing our actions, thoughts, decisions and
acquiring knowledge from it (Boud, D., Cohen, R. & Sampson, J., 2013).
Reflection has an undeniable impact on personal and professional
development. As a pre-registered nursing student reflection is essential
for developing a variety of skills and abilities. Learning from mistakes and
acquiring knowledge from experiences are part of reflection. Reflection
related to practice is an essential part of learning and is an essential
element of revalidation (NMC, April 2024). As I have just started my
nursing studies as a student there are yet for me to achieve, learn and
explore, and in all these areas and future ahead reflection helps me like
nothing else. Reflection helps me to develop a growth mindset, by making
me realize that I am capable of learning and growing, and those are my
opportunities to become a better version of myself. Reflective practice is a
cognitive skill that demands conscious effort to look at a situation with an
awareness of own beliefs, values, and practice enabling nurses to learn
from experiences, incorporate that learning in improving patient care
outcomes. Also, leads to knowledge development in nursing. (Reflective
practice in nursing: A concept analysis, Oct 2021)
